Books have landed.

Two days ago almost 800 copies of the hardback edition of The Chairs’ Hiatus that was funded by all of you on Kickstarter arrived at my door. It’s so nice to be able to type that!

Please excuse me. I need to tell you how great these things are.

Wonderful things about these books:

  • The production turned out great.
  • They are hardback books. Holly crap. Hardback!
  • They are much more substantial than the previous paperback versions.
  • They are in color at last.
  • They have a real honest to goodness ISBN number.
  • They smell really good.
  • There are 36 boxes of them! Holly cow!
  • They have two new endorsements on the back, one by R. Stevens and the other by Maggie Stievater.

I’m so happy to finally be in the home stretch of this project that I’ve been working on steadily since last July.

I’m about to leave town for two weeks, but these start going out to Kickstarter backers and anyone who wants to pre-order as soon as I get back.

Thank you all for your support. I’ll have more things to share soon.

Win a free copy of “The Chairs’ Hiatus”

The Chairs' Hiatus - Being given away to a lucky person like you!

To celebrate the release of my graphic novel The Chairs’ Hiatus on ComiXology I’ve decided to do my first ever contest!

On December 19th I’m going to randomly pick 5 people out of everyone who is signed up for my mailing list. Two of them are going to get a free copy of the ComiXology version of the book and three of them will get the print version mailed to their house for free. The print versions will be signed with a sketch inside.

If you win I can sign it to anyone else you like if you want to give it away as a Christmas present. I’d be flattered!

To be honest, the number of folks on my mailing list is pretty slim so your chances are pretty good!

Sign up here.

I swear, the support you guys have shown me has been amazing. I hope to do stuff like this more often to say thanks. You guys are the best!

The Chairs’ Hiatus is now LIVE on ComiXology for $2.99

I’m super excited! My graphic novel The Chairs’ Hiatus is now available on the biggest and best digital comics shop on the web: ComiXology!

It looks beautiful, and they did a great job with the “Guided View” process that walks you thru the book on smaller devices. Also included in the download is a backup story called Jon that isn’t available on the web site. That’s over 90 pages of comics!

Something to keep in mind this holiday season: nothing is easier or cooler than giving awesome folks that are far away from you digital comics.

You can pick up a copy for only $2.99.

You can also get a signed copy of the physical book with a free sketch in it by stoping by my store. Orders placed by the 18th should arrive by Christmas.

Here’s the description from ComiXology

Mary and Nel were known for being close. Throughout the years the two of them zig-zagged the country as the rock duo “The Chairs” they never spent more than a day or two apart.

That is until Mary mysteriously appears in a new city having given up her music, fame, and friends. She wants nothing more than to work her lousy job and be left alone, but the two people who just showed up on her doorstep are determined to make sure won’t happen.

“Matthew Bogarts The Chairs Hiatus is uncluttered in its story, quiet in its telling, and lovely in the time it spends with you. It illustrates its human moments by enveloping us in the larger spaces we are surrounded by. I felt like I was using a telescope to read a comic taking gentle steps forward into something big and small at the same time.”

-Anis Mojgani
2-time National Poetry Slam champion and author of The Feather Room

“The Chairs Hiatus is a kind of comic I’d like to see more often – a small, human story about how people hurt each other without meaning to. Matthew Bogart’s intelligent, graceful cartooning is a pleasure to read.”

– Barry Deutsch
author of Hereville
