Many people in my circle have been rethinking their approach to sharing things online with the recent news of Elon Musk buying Twitter.

[Facebook is hurting](https://www.theverge.com/23277797/mark-zuckerberg-meta-facebook-employees-pressure?ref=matthewbogart.net), and [Twitter is losing its most profitable posters](https://www.reuters.com/technology/exclusive-where-did-tweeters-go-twitter-is-losing-its-most-active-users-internal-2022-10-25/?ref=matthewbogart.net). Kevin Rouse [wonders](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/28/podcasts/emergency-pod-elon-musk-owns-twitter.html?action=click&module=audio-series-bar®ion=header&pgtype=Article&ref=matthewbogart.net) if peak social media might be behind us.

And perhaps it's because I'm just coming out of hard-core promotion mode, having just released [a book](https://www.matthewbogart.net/incredible-doom-vol-2/), but I'm *exhausted* with these platforms.

**But** I still love having a blog.

Nothing's changed on my blog this week. No one over here is in danger of being fired. There are no trolls. No drama. Free from jerk posters or insidious tech dudes trying to bend it to their will. Just a fun place with some posts and a few comics. A little sandbox on the Internet.

If that sounds like something you'd like to have for yourself, [Ben Werdmuller](https://werd.io/?ref=matthewbogart.net) wrote a simple little [primer on getting started](https://getblogging.org/?ref=matthewbogart.net) with blogging on the open web.
